These photos cover a broad range of architectural history—from Istanbul's Hagia Sophia, completed in the year 537, to San Francisco's de Young Museum, rebuilt and reopened in 2005. The most recently updated cities are listed first; below these they are listed in order of the populations of their metropolitan areas.
